Research Integrity & Ethics Unit

The Research Integrity & Ethics Unit (RIEU), Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, is dedicated to promoting a culture of ethical, responsible, and high-quality research. The unit supports researchers, students, and staff in upholding principles of integrity, accountability, and compliance with institutional and international standards.

RIEU serves as a central resource for ethics education, guidance, and capacity building to ensure that all research activities are conducted with professionalism and respect for ethical standards.

1. Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training
   • Organises workshops and training sessions on Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)
   • Covers key areas such as research integrity, data management, authorship, and ethical decision-making
   • Targets students, researchers, and academic staff
     
     
2. Awareness and Advocacy Programmes
   • Conducts awareness campaigns to promote an ethical research culture
   • Engages the academic community through seminars, talks, and outreach activitiesResearch Grant Agreement Review
   • Encourages adherence to ethical principles in all stages of research
     
     
3. Support for Ethics Committees
   • Facilitates processes related to ethical review and compliance
   • Ensures alignment with institutional policies and guidelines
     
     
4. Capacity Building in Research Ethicsnt-related Promotion & Dissemination
   • Strengthens institutional capabilities in ethical research governance
   • Supports initiatives such as structured ethics education programmes and professional development
   • Contributes to building a sustainable and ethically responsible research ecosystem
