Medical Students Admission Test-Malaysia (MSAT- Malaysia 2026)

MSAT-Malaysia is a pre-requisite entrance test for all candidates who wish to apply for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Programme for the academic session 2026/2027. This test is one of the criteria used to ensure fairness in selection of suitable candidates for the competitive MBBS programme.

Preparing for MSAT-Malaysia 2026

MSAT-Malaysia is a 2 hours 40 minutes computer-based test, which consists of multiple-choice questions in 3 different sections. You will take the test online at our provided location or on your own computer at home and will be monitored by a remote Proctor.

Application for MSAT- Malaysia 2026

The application for the test is open only once a year. Please visit https://msat.um.edu.my/ for application form and payment.
Application will commence on the 1st December 2025 until 16th January 2026. Application after 16th January 2026 will NOT be entertained.
Please ensure that all details provided during the online registration are complete. Incomplete applications will NOT be considered.

General Application Process for MBBS Programme

Check the entry requirements for the MBBS Programme before submitting application. https://study.um.edu.my/entry-requirements. Kindly contact the Admission and Records Section at https://aasc.um.edu.my/unit-skp for further inquiries on entry requirements.
Register through online application for MSAT-Malaysia at https://msat.um.edu.my/. Application will commence on the 1st December 2025 until 16th January 2026. Application after 16th January 2026 will NOT be entertained.
Candidates are required to choose their preferred date of the test (24th February 2026 OR 25th February 2026 OR 26th February 2026 OR 27th February 2026)
Candidates are to attend the MSAT-Malaysia 2026 test on either 24th, or 25th or 26th, or 27th February 2026 at the allocated time. Candidates are allowed to choose their preferred date and time according to the schedule provided. However, the number of seats for each session is limited. If a particular session is full, candidates will be assigned to another session with available slots.
Please take note that if you choose to sit for the test via remote proctoring,you may only choose to sit for the test on either 24 or 25 February 2026.
Candidates who sat for MSAT-Malaysia 2026 can apply to enter Universiti Malaya MBBS Programme through the UPU Online website or via UM Open Channel.
Selected candidates will be invited to attend the Selection Interview Note:
(i) Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for the interview
(ii) Sitting for the MSAT-Malaysia 2026 DOES NOT guarantee you a placement to the MBBS Programme
Enrol into Universiti Malaya MBBS Programme once offer letter is received.

MSAT-Malaysia 2026 Reimbursement Subsidy for Candidates with total household income of RM5250 and below

The Faculty of Medicine provides a reimbursement subsidy of 75% to MSAT-Malaysia 2026 candidates who belong to total household income of RM5250 and below with the following conditions:

This subsidy will only be considered for Malaysian citizens.
Total household income of below RM5250.
Candidates must have registered and paid the full amount for the admission test.
The application for subsidy must be completed and supporting documents shall be attached in PDF format.
Subsidy applications will be closed on the 31st January 2026 and will be processed. Any submission after the closing date will not be entertained.
Successful applicants will be informed via e-mail for the reimbursement process.
The subsidy is limited to funds availability.
All incomplete applications will not be processed. The decision of the Faculty of Medicine, UM is final.

1. When is the MSAT-Malaysia Test?

2. My son / daughter took SPM in 2025. Is he / she eligible to take the test?

- Application is only open for students who already had their SPM results in hand and are completing their foundation / STPM / Matriculation / 'A' Level at the moment.

3. How do I pay?

- Please register via the online application portal at msat.um.edu.my Kindly follow the instructions in the form which will lead you to the payment gateway.

4. Do I get an exemption for fees?

- Currently we do not offer any fees exemption. However, subsidy may be considered for candidates from a B40 family.

5. My son / daughter is currently doing A-Levels but sat for SPM in 2024 / 2025. Can he / she apply?

- Yes. Application is only open for students who already had their SPM results in hand and are completing their foundation / STPM / Matriculation / 'A' Level at the moment.

7. Do you need my matriculation/ STPM/ PASUM/ MUET trial results or CGPA?

- No, not at this point.

8. How long is the test?

- The test takes 2 hours and 40 minutes. The MSAT-Malaysia comprises 3 sections with each Section taking 50-60 minutes.

9. Are there any other suitable dates to take the test?

- Unfortunately, NO.
- You can only choose between the four dates offered, as above - the test is scheduled for the 24th to 27th February 2026 and will be conducted either on-site or at your own preferred venue.

10. I cannot seem to access to the website. What should I do?

- Please try again as we are experiencing heavy traffic of applications. The portal is open until 16th of January 2026, 12:00 noon.

11. I read from other websites about intake for the MBBS programme. Can I trust their information?

- Please obtain official information from the website of Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya “https://medicine.um.edu.my”. We are not liable for any misinterpretation of information on the unofficial website.

12. I want to know more about the test. Where can I get the information from?

- Please go to https://medicine.um.edu.my/msat to find out more.

13. Does UM only accept results of MSAT-Malaysia admission test? Any other admission test I can take?

- UM accepts the results of MCAT and GAMSAT for the latest sitting. UM is not responsible for any costs incurred for these tests.

14. I have missed the deadline of the application/confirmation to the MSAT-Malaysia test. Can I still apply?

- The MSAT-Malaysia application portal opens from 1st December 2025 (12:00 noon) to 16th January 2026 (12:00 noon). We WILL NOT extend the date for application.

15. Will I be receiving any additional information after I have completed my registration and made my payment?

- Please check your e-mail regularly as we will be sending you information of the test from time to time.

16. I have registered but I have not made payment. Am I considered as a candidate for the test?

- You will need to complete the payment process before your details are captured by the system. Incomplete application shall not be considered.

17. I received the confirmation of registration after the deadline. Will I still be able to sit for the exam?

- We believe you would have registered very near the time the application was about to close. Yes, you are allowed to sit for the exam. Since you have registered and made payment online, your information will be captured.

18. Can I sit for the MSAT-Malaysia test without my MUET results?

- You may sit for the MSAT-Malaysia exam without a MUET test results. As for applying to the MBBS program, you will have to fulfil the requirements stated in the UM website for MBBS. 19. What should I prepare and what should I read?

- The details for the test are available online at https://medicine.um.edu.my/msat. We advise students to consistently check the website for latest updates.
Sample test papers will be sent to your registered e-mail once payment is successful and your application is processed.

20. I do not want to sit for MSAT-Malaysia but I have registered and made payment. Can I get a refund?

- We are sorry to hear that you will not be taking the test. There will however be NO refund if you decide not to take the test.

21. What is the next step after sitting for the MSAT-Malaysia /getting the MSAT-Malaysia results?

- Please make sure you have applied to do medicine in UM via the UPU online portal or UMCCed (for Open Channel). Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. Please check your e-mail from time to time to ensure that you do not miss the interview dates.

22. What do I do with this MSAT-Malaysia test result?

- The university will match your entry requirements with the MSAT-Malaysia results before calling the candidates for interview. An e-mail will be sent to your respective e-mail accounts for notification of your MSAT-Malaysia test results.

23. Based on my result, how do I know if I am qualified to enter UM?

- There is NO pass or fail marks for MSAT-Malaysia. Your results will be ranked with the other candidates. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.

24. When will be the announcement for calling of interview?

- Please check your verified e-mail from time to time to ensure that you do not miss the interview dates.

25. Is there any certificate that I can claim/ do I get a certificate for sitting the test?

- The statement of your results will be released to your e-mail. You can print the statement from your e-mail if required for verification. There will be no issuance of certificate for this purpose.

26. Based on my results, am I qualified to enter UM for the MBBS program?

- MSAT-Malaysia is ONE of the entry requirements and is a pre-requisite for application for the MBBS program. Please check your e-mail from time to time to ensure that you do not miss the interview dates.

27. I am the parent of the candidate. Could you please send to me my child’s results?

- We can only release the results via the candidates’ verified e-mail address registered for MSAT-Malaysia 2026.

Medical Students Admission Test-Malaysia
