About Us

Welcome to the Clinical Skills Unit (CSU) Faculty of Medicine Universiti Malaya.

The Clinical Skill Unit is located on the 3rd Floor of Block D, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. The unit is a learning facility which provides and supports excellent learning opportunities for the undergraduate’s students in Medical, Nursing, Biomedical Science, postgraduate students in clinical specialisation as well as Allied Health Professionals from all over the country to practice basic and specific clinical skills either independently or mediated by teaching staff and the provision of computer aided teaching programs. The models and manikins that are available in the Clinical Skills Unit are designed to support the clinical skills that are required to be learned during the clinical training and to ensure that the program outcome is met. The clinical skills that can be learn in Clinical Skills Unit covers the psychomotor, cognitive and affective domain.

The active simulation-based learning experiences in the Clinical Skills Unit and the enhancement of the scientific principles in the technical skills prepare the student for real life situation and the ability to engage in self-directed learning activities. The learning activities allow the student to engage in repeated practice of a particular clinical skill until a competency is reached to perform the same clinical procedure safely on real patients. This will ensure that the graduates produce at the end of the program is knowledgeable and safe. Simulation has proven to help prepare learners for real-life clinical work.
