Quality@FOM

The Quality and Accreditation of FOM was formed to assist and monitor the quality of all the core processes in the Faculty of Medicine.

Responsibility of the committee:
- To coordinate and monitor the implementation of Quality Management System in the Faculty of Medicine.
- To advise on MQA related matters for all programmes under the faculty and facilitate the process of accreditation.
- To ensure the implementation of PDCA in the faculty and obtain feedback from stakeholders.
- To manage and mitigate risks that will affect the achievement of quality objectives.

OUR VISION

To implement quality assurance and improvement program for quality assurance in teaching and learning; research and support services in the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya.

OUR MISSION

To manage, facilitate and conduct activities in the Faculty of Medicine towards quality assurance and enhancement of Universiti Malaya core processes based on the requirements of its Quality Management System (QMS) and the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF)

Quality Manager

Terms of Reference:

Attend regular meetings with the Management Representative as well as any briefings / training identified by the Management Representative.
Assisting the Head of PTj in the implementation and monitoring of UM QMS at PTj.
Planning, assisting and advising the Head of PTj in the implementation of any resolution that has been agreed at the periodic meeting of Quality Manager with the Management Representative.
Assisting PTj Heads in the preparation of any assessment/audit process, data collection and analysis of respective PTj Quality Objectives.
Implement follow-up actions and monitor the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions at each PTj.
Inform PTj of developments and matters related to UM QMS in PTj Management Meetings at their respective PTj.
Give a report (if required) on behalf of the PTj on various matters related to the status of UM QMS at the PTj level to the Management Representative.

Internal Audit

Terms of Reference:

Ensure that there are adequate systems for the management of teaching and learning, research and support services at the Faculty of Medicine (UM) in compliance with the Quality Management System.
Conduct periodic thematic faculty internal audits at the Faculty of Medicine (UM) to ensure that the system is operating effectively and meeting its objectives.
Evaluate and review the existing operating systems and report to the relevant parties at the Faculty of Medicine (UM).
Identify areas of weaknesses and make recommendations for improvement to ensure optimal performance of the Faculty of Medicine (UM).

Risk Management

Terms of Reference:

Identify, evaluate and register significant risks that threaten attainment of the objectives of the Faculty of Medicine (UM).
Recognise the action strategies in place to manage risks and threats at the Faculty of Medicine (UM), including the documentation of suitable risk proprietors and monitoring the operation of management strategies.
Ensure that further risks are being dynamically managed at the Faculty of Medicine (UM) using suitable strategies in place and are working efficiently.
Raise awareness of risk management across the Faculty of Medicine (UM) including the maintenance of these risk management profiles.
Address and recommend to responsible parties on issues that may arise time to time that may affect risk policies at the Faculty of Medicine and Universiti Malaya.

Advise programme owners at the Faculty of Medicine (UM) on accreditation documents in compliance with the requirements of MQA and professional bodies.

Terms of Reference:

Monitor, measure, analyse and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the quality management system (QMS) at the Faculty of Medicine (UM) in ensuring conformity of products and services, degree of stakeholders satisfaction and effectiveness of actions to address risk and opportunities.
Determine methods to monitor, measure, analyse and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of QMS at the Faculty of Medicine (UM).
Feedback the needs of improving QMS at the Faculty of Medicine (UM) in accordance to stakeholders’ satisfaction surveys.
