Congratulations to Master of Medical Physics student, Nadia Mohd Shahrom from the Faculty of Medicine, who managed to obtain second runner-up prize in the oral presentation competition during the Malaysian Nuclear Medicine Annual Conference 2023 (MyNM2023) on 21th May 2023.

Her research project focuses on the characterisation of a novel hybrid optical-gamma camera, SERACAM. The camera is a small field-of-view gamma camera, with the ability to real-time high-resolution gamma-optical fusion images. The camera has a promising future for bedside imaging and operating theater usage such as the sentinel lymph node localisation procedure for breast cancer surgery.

This year, Malaysian Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Society (MSNMMI) organised the MyNM2023 on the 19th – 21st May 2023 in Double Tree Hilton, Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel, Putrajaya, with the theme ‘Broadening The Horizon of Nuclear Medicine Theragnostics Through Multi-Disciplinary Approach’. The conference brought together local and international nuclear medicine specialists, medical physicists, radio-pharmacists, scientists, radiologists, oncologists, surgeons, technologists, nurses and so on to the annual scientific events.

Nadia Mohd Shahrom received the oral presentation prize from the President of MSNMMI.  Nadia Mohd Shahrom with the supervisors, Dr. Ng Aik Hao and Professor Yeong Chai Hong.
