Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya

Universiti Malaya, renowned for its academic excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement, is partnering with the esteemed Royal College of Surgeons of England to advance surgical education and training in the region. This collaborative agreement reflects the dedication of both institutions to fostering exceptional medical graduates and skilled surgeons who uphold the highest standards of patient care.

Originally, the MoU was signed in 2017. The Royal College of Surgeons of England and Universiti Malaya had previously planned to exchange practical knowledge and expertise in the fields of medical education and training for the development of qualified personnel need to deal with pandemic situation 2019 but successfully implemented even during the pandemic via online methods. After 5 years of working together, we are now extending our cooperation in order to help surgeons continue to provide patients with the best care possible.

As part of this collaboration, Universiti Malaya will serve as an examination center for the 'Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons' (MRCS) examination in Kuala Lumpur. Leveraging its exceptional faculty and state-of-the-art facilities, the Faculty of Medicine at Universiti Malaya is well-equipped to offer a conducive environment for the MRCS (OSCE) examinations, which will be conducted annually in September.

To ensure the success of this initiative, Prof April Camilla Roslani has been appointed as the Project Leader, supported by a dedicated team from the Faculty of Medicine. This collaboration underscores the mutual commitment of both institutions to upholding sound technical practices, effective project leadership, and the shared pursuit of advancing surgical knowledge and expertise.

This joint effort between Universiti Malaya and the Royal College of Surgeons of England signifies a significant milestone in medical education and training, promising a future of excellence in surgical practice and patient care.
