About the webinar
The Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya is organising a webinar titled “Quantitative Image Analysis of Tissue Biomarkers in Basic Sciences Research”. The webinar is open to all academic staff, postdoctoral fellows and students within and outside the campus, targeting beginners and advanced users in microscopy research. Routine staining and special stains play a critical role in tissue-based diagnosis or research. By colouring otherwise transparent tissue sections, these stains allow highly trained pathologists and researchers to demonstrate a special structure, chemical or molecular characteristic of the tissue. Additionally, immunohistochemistry is a quantitative approach for the analysis of antigens in tissue sections by using appropriately-labeled antibodies binding specifically to their target antigens in situ. Here, a team of researchers from UM and UKM utilise the full potential of programming tools for image acquisition and analysis to achieve a quantitative representation of cell staining, morphology and architecture that can ultimately be used to support tissue-based diagnosis as well as to foster multidisciplinary research.
