MASTER OF MEDICAL SCIENCE IN CLINICAL PATHOLOGY (MMEDSCCLINPATH) (FORENSIC PATHOLOGY)

The Master of Medical Science in Clinical Pathology programme offered by UM covers comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge to equip graduates with the necessary proficiency to become clinicians who are involved in diagnostic laboratory work and for the field of Forensic Pathology, the involvement with investigations into causes of death and medicolegal work.

  • This is a professional programme aimed at proficiency as a diagnostic pathologist.
  • Would be suitable for employment in a diagnostic pathology facility.

The programme of study is over a period of one year and consisting of advanced studies and practical work in any one of the following areas:

  • Chemical Pathology
  • Forensic Pathology
  • Haematology
  • Histopathology
  • Medical Microbiology

A non-Malaysian applicant whose degree is from a university or institution of higher learning where the medium of instruction for that degree is not the English language and where the applicant wishes to follow a programme shall be required:

  • To obtain a score of 600 for a paper-based total (PBT); a score of 250 for a computer-based total (CBT) or a score of 100 for an internet-based total (IBT) for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); or
  • To obtain a band of 6 for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

1) Entry qualifications

  • Candidate, in the preceding academic session, has passed the Examination for the degree of Master of Medical Science in Clinical Pathology; or
  • Possesses a Master’s degree in Clinical Pathology or an equivalent qualification approved by Senate; and
  • Has in the preceding year, at least six month of practical experience in the chosen specialty.

2) Other requirements

  • Qualifies for registration as a medical practitioner under the Medical Act 1971 (Act 50) of Malaysia; and
  • Satisfies the Department responsible for the candidate’s programme of study in an Entrance Evaluation recognised by the Faculty.
  • Once a year in the month of June.
  • Offered to International applicants only.
