BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT Malaysia 2021)

BMAT (Malaysia) is a pre-requisite entrance test for all candidates who wish to apply for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Programme for the academic session 2021/2022. This test is one of the criteria used to ensure fairness in selection of suitable candidates for the competitive MBBS programme.

Preparing for BMAT (Malaysia) 2021

BMAT Malaysia is a 2-hour computer-based test, which consists of three sections. Sections 1 and 2 are multiple choice, and Section 3 is a writing task. You will take the test on your own computer at home or at another suitable location. The test will be monitored by a remote Proctor.

Thinking Skills
Generic skills in problem solving and critical thinking. 32 multiple-choice questions. 60 minutes
Section 2:
Scientific Knowledge and Applications
The ability to apply scientific knowledge typically covered in school Science and Mathematics by the age of 16 (for example, GCSE in the UK and IGCSE internationally). 27 multiple-choice questions. 30 minutes
Section 3:
Writing Task
The ability to select, develop and organise ideas, and to communicate them in writing, concisely and effectively. One writing task from a choice of four questions. 30 minutes

Application for BMAT (Malaysia) 2021

  • The application for the test is open only once a year. Please visit bmat.um.edu.my for application form and payment.
  • Application will commence on the 30th of November 2020 until 21st of January 2021. Application after 21st of January 2020 will NOT be entertained.
  • Please ensure that all details provided during the online registration are complete. Incomplete applications will NOT be considered.

General Application Process for MBBS Programme

1. Check the entry requirements for the MBBS Programme before submitting application.
Kindly contact the Admission and Records Section at https://myum-id.um.edu.my/site/contact for further inquiries on entry requirements
2. Register through online application for BMAT (Malaysia) at bmat.um.edu.my
Application will commence on 30th of November 2020, 12:00 noon until 21st of January 2021, 12:00 noon
Application after 21st of January 2021 will NOT be entertained.
3. Candidates to attend the BMAT (Malaysia) 2021 test on 20th February 2021; 3.00pm.
4. Candidates who sat for BMAT (Malaysia) 2021 can apply to enter University of Malaya MBBS Programme through the UPU Online website or via UMCced (for Open Channel).
5. Selected candidates will be invited to attend the Selection Interview Note: (i) Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for the interview (ii) Sitting for the BMAT (Malaysia) 2021 DOES NOT guarantee you a placement to the MBBS Programme
6. Enrol into University Malaya MBBS Programme once offer letter is received.

BMAT (Malaysia) 2021 Reimbursement Subsidy for B40 Candidates

The Faculty of Medicine provides a reimbursement subsidy of RM100 to BMAT (Malaysia) 2021 candidates who belong to the B40 category (household income of RM4000 and below) with the following conditions:

  1. Malaysian citizen
  2. Has registered BMAT (Malaysia) 2021 and made full payment at bmat.um.edu.my
  3. Apply in the link provided at HERE by filling in all the details and submitting the documents needed.
  4. Application closing date is 20th February 2021. Application after closing date will not be entertained.
  5. Subsidy is limited to funds availability.
