The Clinical Oncology Unit first started serving the public in September 1997.
There are 800-1000 new cases, or patients, seen annually in this unit. (The whole hospital probably sees more than this since not all cancer patients are referred to this unit.)
The top 9 types of cancer (primary sites) seen in this unit for the year 2005 are breast, colorectal, nasopharynx, lung, head and neck, cervix, stomach, brain and prostate.
Our vision is to be accredited internationally as one of the excellent clinical oncology centers in the Asia Pacific region, and to become a renowned clinical oncology center internationally, in its services, teaching and research.
